Frequently asked questions
What kind of studio is Rex Monkey?
Rex Monkey is an independent art direction, design and 3D animation studio created and run by Luca Moro in Bassano del Grappa, Italy. The studio keeps in one point of contact the skills that usually sit with different suppliers: creative direction, product and graphic design, communication, visualisation and animation. Behind it are more than fifteen years of work: in design, packaging and retail studios, and freelance with agencies and inside companies.
Who does Rex Monkey work for?
Rex Monkey works across several fields: sports, industry, retail and startups. Published projects include Basso Bikes, La Sportiva, Salomon, Lee Cougan and Intertecnica, but often the work comes through other studios and professionals. Most projects start from a new product to present or an identity to put back in order, where form, function and communication have to hold each other up.
Can I ask for a single service, or is the whole project needed?
You can ask for a single service. Published work includes projects followed from the idea to production, such as the three generations of the Basso Palta frame designed between 2018 and 2026, and single jobs: the Coldtech logo restyling, the renderings of the Sogeco ovens, the technical animations for La Sportiva. Giving more phases to the same studio means not changing contact along the way; it is not a condition.
Where is the studio, and does it work remotely?
The studio is in Bassano del Grappa, in the province of Vicenza, Italy, and works with companies in Italy and Europe. Projects run remotely, with files, reviews and calls, plus meetings at the company when the project calls for it: a physical product often has to be seen and measured.
How do I ask for a quote?
It starts with an email or a call where you say what you have to present, to whom, by when, and what material already exists. Every project is quoted on its own: a logo restyling and a product catalogue are not measured with the same yardstick.
Are the 3D models engineering-ready?
No! Projects that include product design are aesthetic, not engineered. They come with technical sheets and descriptions, but they are not parametric models for mould making.
